1876 GENTENNIAL HOME INSURANCE COMPANY CALENDAR OCTOBER NEW YORK

$ 13.19

Availability: 100 in stock

Description

Offered is an 1876, Home Insurance Company centennial calendar for the month of October. The calendar heading is a striking color lithograph depicting the 1781 surrender of Lord Cornwallis to the American revolutionary forces. This scene is surrounded by ornate Victorian embellishments, printed on a gold, metallic ink background, advertising Home Insurance Company and proclaiming the amount of its cash assets. The calendar was lithographed by Kronheim & Co. 9 Dey Street, New York City. The long company history can be found on this site: georgebaxter dot com. The back has a description of the front illustration but it is almost completely obscured by paper on top of it, probably scrapbook residue which could possibly be removed by soaking. The front has a tiny hole at the top border edge which is most likely original to the piece and meant to be used to adhere the calendar to a wall or elsewhere.
Size: 5" X 7.5"
Condition: Very good, with a few creases and scrapes in the white border and with the mentioned paper residue covering the back.
